Randall Lee ‘Randy’ Lathey
Randall Lee “Randy” Lathey, 61, of Ripley, W.Va., passed away Dec. 19, 2014, in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, W.Va.
He was born Dec. 5, 1953, in Ravenswood, W.Va., a son of Troy G. Lathey of Ripley, and the late Irene Margaret (Bogard) Lathey. His brother, Timothy Lathey, also preceded him in death.
Randy was a 1971 graduate of Ripley High School, and was a United States Army veteran. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He was a former employee of Kaiser Aluminum and later joined the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Belpre, Ohio. He enjoyed coaching youth sports leagues, golfing, travel and working and spending time in the outdoors.
In addition to his father, other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Dr. John Daugherty of Pataskala, Ohio, and his son, Tyler Lathey of Ripley; grandchildren, LaDainian Lathey and Mackenzie, Sophie, Bently and Ewan Daugherty; and brothers, Daniel Lathey of Poca and Stephen Lathey of Huntington.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, W.Va., with Pastor Rick Perrine and Pastor Franklin Howerton officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Given. Visitation will be from noon until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
