Two firemen injured in firetruck accident when responding to reported fire

PARKERSBURG - Two firemen with the Parkersburg Fire Department were taken to the hospital late Wednesday night after responding to a fire call. The firetruck had tipped onto the driver’s side while taking a turn on the road towards the reported fire. Fire Chief Jason Matthews said they received a call of a structure fire at 9:55 p.m. on 21st Ave. off of Pike Street and the firemen responded to the scene. “As engine three was responding, they made it to the top of the hill and it took a sharp turn and tipped over on the driver’s side,” he said. Ohio Senate advances photo voter ID amendment measure

The Ohio Senate voted Wednesday to put a constitutional amendment before voters requiring photo ID to vote. Senators introduced the resolution just two weeks ago. A companion proposal in the House is getting similar fast-track treatment. If at least 60% of Ohio House members sign off, voters will weigh the proposal this November.
