City deems trash referendum petition insufficient despite over 3K valid signatures
PARKERSBURG - Despite the committee seeking a referendum on Parkersburg City Council’s approval of a sanitation service contract with Waste Management obtaining an additional 1,000 valid signatures, the city reported the petition insufficient on Friday. “The committee is dismayed, but not surprised by the city’s latest action in this matter,” said Edward Escandon, a member of the referendum committee. “It’s a good thing for the citizens of Parkersburg that the city attorney’s opinion is not the final word on this point, far from it.” According to a letter provided by ...
