PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Sheriff's Office released the following reports on Sept. 27:
* Deputies answered 176 calls: 36 Traffic Stops, 20 speak to complainant by phone and in person, 10 domestic calls and domestic protective orders served, 10 traffic accidents, one mental hygiene order/pick up/transport; seven suspicious person/vehicle – disorderly subject/vehicle, four assist agency/motorist/subject, five residence/business/area check, 9 disorderly subject/motorist.
Sept. 22
* A deputy responded to Rosemar Road/Briscoe Road for a Hit and Run where a semi-truck had struck a guardrail at the entrance to North Hills from Emerson Avenue and continued traveling south on the road where a Parkersburg Police Officer who had observed the incident made a traffic stop. The driver stated he was unaware that he had hit the guardrail, the deputy observed damage to the bottom side of the trailer to the semi. A citation was issued to Lorn Scott Campbell, 49, of Fourth Avenue for leaving the scene-property damage.
* A traffic stop was conducted and the driver Lindsey Nicole James, 29, of Autumn Drive, Given, W.Va., was issued a citation for no proof of insurance and no MVI or expired MVI. Passengers in the vehicle, Shelly Ray Davis, 52, of Avery Street was arrested on a warrant for escape issued through Marshall County and Tracy Ann Keller, 55, of Avery Street was arrested on a warrant for open dumps and solid waste disposal issued through Tyler County. Davis and Keller were transported to the Holding Center for processing, arraigned before a magistrate and released on bond.
* Deputies responded to Emerson Avenue for a three vehicle accident. A citation was issued to Stephanie Jean Hall, 51, of West Virginia Avenue for no operators and expired registration. Two of the vehicles were towed from the scene and the other vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. No injuries were reported and a crash report was taken.
* A deputy responded to the area of Keller Lane/Williams Highway for a vehicle accident involving a deer. The driver stated that she was traveling northbound on Williams Highway near Keller Lane when the deer leaped in front of her truck, the deer was located and the vehicle was driven from the scene. The observed damage appeared to be less than $1,000.
Sept. 23
* A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle after it was observed to not have a MVI displayed on the vehicle. Jessica Lynn Burnside, 33, of Sugar Camp Road was issued a citation for Driving on Suspended/Revoked and No Proof of Insurance. She had already contacted a towing company to have the vehicle towed.
* A traffic stop was conducted on the northbound entrance to I-77 from Robert C. Byrd Highway for a defective equipment violation (brake light). The deputy advised the driver that she could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and the driver handed the deputy a mason jar containing marijuana. A Juvenile citation was issued to the driver, age 17, for defective equipment, possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol. The passengers, Caden Dwain Westfall, 18, of Marrtown Road was issued a citation for possession of marijuana and Hailey Brooke Boothe, 20, of South Hazel Street was issued a citation for possession of marijuana. The juvenile's mother was contacted and advised of the citation and she was fine with him being released and continuing on.
* A citation was issued to Marion Bruce Tennant II, 58, of Northwood Villa for speeding 97 in a 70 mph zone.
* Jaymie Lee Fox, 47, of Jackson Lane turned herself in on a warrant for charges of no proof of insurance and expired MVI after she failed to appear on the citation and the warrant was issued. She was processed and arraigned.
Sept. 24
* Deputies responded to the Travel Lodge located on East Seventh Street for a domestic in progress. Jacob Matthew Shaffer, 36, of Latrobe Street was arrested on a warrant for burglary issued through the Parkersburg Police Department.
* A deputy responded to Buck Run Road for a U-Haul truck striking a building. The driver stated he had rented the U-Haul to move out of a trailer and when he backed down the driveway it slid into the outbuilding, he believed the brakes were not functioning properly. The driver stated he called U-Haul and it was sending out a tow truck. The truck had pushed the out building backward about 6 feet, but was otherwise minimally damaged.
* A deputy while leaving Sheetz on Ann Street observed a Jeep facing north on Ann Street stopped at the intersection in the middle lane. Ann Street is a one-way street and clearly marked as a one way street. Emergency lights were activated and the deputy pulled behind the vehicle and approached the driver side and observed the defendant in the driver seat. Marla Rae Stewart, 38, of Elk Fork Road, Middlebourne, was arrested on charges of DUI.
Sept. 25
* A traffic stop was conducted and a citation was issued to Trisha Dawn Law, 42, of Blennerhassett Heights for speeding 90 in a 65 mph zone.
* A deputy spoke with the complainant for a possible stolen or missing license plate. The complainant advised he noticed while removing his boat from Woodrum Lake in Jackson County that the wires near the plate were hanging down and when he returned home and fixed the wires noticed that plate to be missing. He is unsure if it was taken from his residence or fell off while moving the boat. The plate has been entered NCIC as stolen/missing.
* A traffic stop was conducted and a citation was issued to Steven Curtis Balderson, 69, of Elizabeth Pike for speeding 96 in a 70 mph zone and expired registration.
* A traffic stop was conducted and a citation was issued to Wyatt Lyle Eaton, 21, of Pocahontas Avenue for speeding 60 in a 45 mph construction zone.
* A traffic stop was conducted and a citation was issued to Steven Douglas Mossor, 57, of Emerson Avenue for Speeding 56 in a 45 mph construction zone.
* A traffic stop was conducted and citations were issued to Andrew Neil Hitt, 36, of Cumberland Road for no insurance, expired registration, no MVI and defective equipment. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
* A traffic stop was conducted and a citation was issued to Tylon Wayne Snodgrass, 59, of Waverly Oaks Lane for speeding 57 in a 45 mph construction zone.
* A deputy responded to Elizabeth Pike for a truck hauling a boat that had rolled on its side. The deputy observed the boat and trailer to be on its side and the truck to still be upright. The driver stated he had ran off the roadway causing the trailer to roll on its side. A tow company arrived and was able to get the boat and trailer upright and the driver then drove the vehicle to Thirsty's Bar and waited for a flatbed trailer to arrive.
* Deputies responded to Blennerhassett Heights Road for a two-vehicle head on collision. Driver 1 stated that she had been driving northbound when she heard something drip into her driver floorboard, she momentarily looked and reached down in doing this she noticed she was off the side of the road close to the ditch trying to correct the vehicles path and ended up veering into oncoming traffic colliding head on with a vehicle traveling southbound. EMS arrived and began checking all involved. Both vehicles sustained heavy front end damage and both were towed. A crash report will be completed.
