Washington Sheriff
MARIETTA — On Jan. 11 the following reports were released by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department:
Jan. 9
* Dennis A. Huck, Ohio 83, Beverly, reported a carburetor missing from a Chevrolet truck. This case remains under investigation.
* Deputy Martin filed charges requesting a warrant for the arrest of Matthew Colby Cook, 27, 251 Summers Addition, Milton, W.Va., on a theft charge. On Dec 29 a verbal altercation was observed between inmates Justin Schroeder and Matthew Cook over Cook stealing Schroeder’s commissary food items while he was out to court that day. Cook was interviewed and advised he had three days to reimburse Schroeder for the stolen items in the amount of $48.67 or he would be charged with theft. On Dec 31 Deputy Martin spoke with Cook and again stated he would have the money brought in to reimburse Schroeder the following day and apologized for stealing the commissary. On Jan. 1 Cook was transported back to Gallia County Jail and later released as his sentence had been completed.
Jan. 10
* Deputy Parks began an investigation into a resident being scammed out of approximately $150. This case remains under investigation.
Jan. 11
* Deputy Johnson along with the Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department Squad responded to 2280 Veto Road, Vincent, to a report of an intoxicated male who fell and possibly hurt himself. Johnson met with Renee Hennes who stated her husband, Jackson Hennes, was extremely intoxicated and left the residence and began walking through the woods before falling and hurting himself. Renee showed Johnson where Jackson was and Johnson began speaking with him. Jackson told Johnson just to let him there and to leave his property. Once LHVFD arrived on scene Jackson continued his verbal resistance and began kicking paramedics. Johnson assisted in an attempt to get Jackson to his feet in which he began kicking and punching Johnson multiple times in the legs and arms. Jackson was able to be subdued and placed in handcuffs. Johnson was assisted with getting Jackson to the sheriff’s cruiser by squad personnel, where he was checked further for injuries. Jackson continued to be assaultive and kicked the bars covering the windows and the Plexiglas center divider. Jackson L. Hennes, 48, was transported to the Washington County Jail where he is being charged with assault of a peace officer, and disorderly conduct by intoxication.
* Sgt. Farrell received a felony indictment from the Wood County Circuit Court for the arrest of David Jason Rickard, 41, 123 Knobley Road, New Creek, W.Va. The information provided by Rickard during the booking process was compared with the information on the warrant and found to match. Rickard was served his warrant as well as a copy of the fugitive from justice charges.

The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Jan. 10 and 11:
Jan. 10
* Gregory Lee Frye, 36, 4550 EJ Ross Lane, Stockport, for FRA suspension. Frye was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Hanson of the Marietta City Police Department.
* Nicole Marie Kurtz, 32, 9645 Ohio 821, Lower Salem, on a warrant for theft by deception. Kurtz turned herself in at the Washington County Jail.
* Courtney Taylor Smith, 26, 388 Oak Grove Road, Williamstown, W.Va., for probation violation.
* Brian Dale Brown, 51, 9645 Ohio 821, Lower Salem, Ohio, on a warrant for theft. Brown was arrested by Deputy Metts of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
* Joseph Scott Antill, 40, 709 Phillips St., Marietta, Ohio, on a warrant for felonious assault, a felony. Antill was arrested by Patrolman Giffin of the Marietta City Police Department.
* Jeramia Kemp Brandyberry, 29, 280 Jett Hill Road, Marietta, Ohio, for probation violation. Brandyberry was arrested by Probation Officer Brockmeier of the Marietta Parole Authority.
* James Gregory Gray, 33, 87 Robinson Junction, Waynesboro, Miss., on a warrant for failure to appear. Gray was picked up at Lauderdale County Jail by Deputy Doak of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Jan. 11
* Jackson L. Hennes, 48, 2280 Veto Road, Vincent, Ohio, for one count of assault, a felony, one count of assault and disorderly conduct. Hennes was arrested on Veto Road by Deputy Johnson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office l on 11 Jan 18 at 4:39 am.
* There are currently 29 females and 106 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
