PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Sheriff's Office released the following reports on March 28:

March 24

* Deputies responded to Dry Run Road for a domestic. The male subject was observed walking along Staunton Turnpike and was detained by deputies. Contact was made with the female who stated the male had busted open the door which had been locked and closed with a deadbolt and when entering the residence he made threats to her and slapped her in the face. Dale Roger Thorn, 57, of Dry Run Road was arrested on charges of domestic battery and domestic assault. He was processed at the Holding Center, arraigned before a magistrate and released on bond.

* Deputies responded to I-77 at mile marker 176 for a vehicle accident. Deputies observed the vehicle had hydroplaned and went off the road striking the embankment. One passenger was transported by EMS and the vehicle was towed.

* Deputies responded to Chesterville Road for a single-vehicle accident. Upon arrival the vehicle was observed in the creek. The driver stated he had moved off the edge of the road to make room for a car coming the opposite direction when the vehicle slid in the mud on the side and went into the creek, it looked like the vehicle had struck a tree before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed.

* Deputies responded to Summit Road for a vehicle accident with injuries where the other vehicle involved had fled the scene. A deputy stayed on scene while the other deputies checked the area for the suspect vehicle. The passenger stated she and the driver were traveling north on Williams Highway when a black car traveling south came into their lane as it was trying to pass another vehicle. The driver swerved to avoid a head on collision. The deputy observed damage to the driver side mirror and front bumper where it appeared to have been damaged striking the culvert. The driver was transported by ambulance and the passenger stated she was going to be taken to the hospital by her boyfriend.

March 25

* Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries where the vehicle had gone over the embankment near Rising Sun Ridge Road. The vehicle, however, was located over the embankment on Alleman Hill Road near Jericho Road. Deputies observed the vehicle to be on its top in the creek at the bottom of a very steep embankment with the driver being tended to by EMS and was loaded into the ambulance to be transported. Jeremy Ray Collins, 41, of 15th Street was issued a citation for DUI.

March 26

* A deputy responded to Emerson Avenue for a vehicle accident where the driver had left the scene on foot. The deputy observed the vehicle to have heavy front-end damage, including the front passenger side wheel to be completely detached. All the side airbags had been deployed and only the front driver side airbag had deployed. The vehicle appeared to have been traveling north on Emerson Avenue when it struck the end of a collapsible guardrail in the construction zone on the right side of the road. Upon impact the vehicle bounced backward and came to rest perpendicular across the lanes. The registration came back to a person from St. Marys. The vehicle was towed with a hold placed until contact with the owner with charges pending.

* A deputy responded to the Williamstown Welcome Center for a vehicle running over signs. The deputy observed a minivan sitting on top of a bench, a witness advised that the driver had pressed the gas instead of the brake and drove over the curb, struck a sign and then struck a set of benches that had a trash can between them. The driver confirmed this is what had happened. The vehicle was towed and the deputy assisted the elderly driver and his passenger with arranging to be picked up.

* Deputies responded to Harmony Ridge on Chambers Circle Road for a disorderly subject. The male had become disorderly and struck a subject in the arm and another in the chest. Jason Barrett Siko, 44, of Canyon Road, Morgantown, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and battery. He was transported to the Holding Center for processing and placed pending his arraignment.

Deputies answered 135 calls March 24-26: 21 traffic stops, 14 speak to complainant by phone and in person, nine domestic calls and domestic protective orders served, six traffic accidents; four mental hygiene order/pick up/transport; three suspicious persons/vehicles; eight disorderly subjects/vehicles, two assist agencies/motorists/subjects; seven residences/business/area checks.
