Small Bites for Great Futures fundraiser to benefit Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG -- A local financial adviser is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg to host a fundraising and networking event July 30.

Small Bites for Great Futures will be 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parkersburg Art Center on Market Street. Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club and its programs for area children and families.

David Lyle, a financial adviser with Equitable Advisors, organized the event after recently moving to the area from Pittsburgh. Lyle said he wanted to partner with a local nonprofit and create an event where residents and business leaders could gather, share a meal and learn more about the organization's work.

"Strong communities are built by investing in young people," Lyle said in a release. "That's why I chose the Boys and Girls Club. Their mission gives kids the support, guidance and opportunities they need to reach their full potential, and I'm proud to help further that mission."

Lyle worked with colleagues, local business owners and members of the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley to attract new supporters to the club.

Boys and Girls Club CEO Darlene Murphy said the event will give the organization an opportunity to introduce its programs to people who may be unfamiliar with the club or unsure how to become involved.

"We are grateful to David for helping us bring people together who may not know about the club or may not know how to become involved," Murphy said. "Getting to share our impact on local youth is such a special opportunity."

Murphy said the club also hopes the event will strengthen connections among local businesses, nonprofit organizations and residents.

"We are excited for this opportunity to showcase all the Boys and Girls Club provides for the youth and their families in this area," Murphy said. "Breaking bread and meeting new community members is a great way to share the important work we do while also just having fun with each other."

Tickets are $25 and include food, music from a DJ, raffle baskets and giveaways. A cash bar also will be available.

More information and tickets are available through the Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg's Facebook page.
