The former Parkersburg Fire Station 3 at 13th and Liberty streets is torn down by an excavator Monday afternoon. It was the last of three Depression-era fire stations to be replaced by the city, with firefighters moving into the new station 3 in the 700 block of Briant Street in May. Mayor Tom Joyce said Monday that the now-vacant station has been broken into twice since then, “so in an effort to not be a property owner who lets vacant structures become a haven for bad actors” the city elected to demolish it sooner rather than later. No plans have been announced for any future use or potential sale of the property. (Photo by Brett Dunlap)
