Coplin celebration to mark new Parkersburg Mobile Health Unit stop
PARKERSBURG — Coplin Health Systems is expanding its Mobile Health Unit program with a new ongoing community stop at Parkersburg Fire Station No. 2.
The stop will begin with a community celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. July 8. The event will give residents a chance to tour the Mobile Health Unit, meet Coplin care providers, take part in family-friendly activities and learn more about services offered through the program. Free popsicles will be provided to children.
Parkersburg Fire Chief Jason Matthews and the Parkersburg Fire Department also will participate in the event, offering resources and informational materials for families.
Tracy Martin, chief executive officer of Coplin Health Systems, said Fire Station No. 2 was chosen because of its role as a familiar community location.
“Fire stations are viewed as safe, community-centered spaces,” Martin said. “By placing our newest Mobile Health Unit stop here, we’re meeting people where they are and making healthcare more accessible to the families who need it most.”
Parkersburg Mayor Tom Joyce said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to community health.
“We are very happy that the Mobile Health Unit will add this stop to their program and I look forward to seeing everyone at the celebration event!” Joyce said.
Coplin’s chief medical officer, Dr. Darrin Nichols, said the Mobile Health Units help provide primary and behavioral health care in a way that is convenient and responsive to community needs.
“With the addition of this stop at Fire Station No. 2, we have four stops across the region to serve the communities each month,” Nichols said. “We want residents to know that these services are here for them.”
After the July 8 celebration, the Mobile Health Unit will visit Parkersburg Fire Station No. 2 on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 1 to 4 p.m., following the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Parish Hall stop.
Services available through the Mobile Health Unit include routine primary care appointments, behavioral health visits, women’s health services, sports and work physicals, basic dental exams and more.
Appointments can be made by visiting www.coplinhealth.com or calling 304-440-5150. Walk-in visits also are available at each stop.
