MARIETTA – Buckeye Hills Regional Council invites the community to participate in a public hearing about the council's draft 2027-2030 Strategic Area Plan, according to a release from the council.
The hearing is slated for 1-2 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Buckeye Hills Regional Council office at 2585 Glendale Road, Marietta.
During the hearing, the public will have an opportunity to comment about the plan, which includes topics like plan goals and outcomes as well as a waiver request to support health promotion and disease prevention programs.
The waiver request is for the Older Americans Act of 1965, which "established the nationwide network for Area Agencies on Aging and requires each agency to develop a strategic Area Plan to guide the delivery of coordinated services that meet the needs of older adults and their caregivers," according to the release.
Individuals from surrounding counties like Washington, Athens, Meigs, Hocking, Noble, Perry, Morgan, and Monroe are encouraged to submit comments and attend the hearing.
The draft of the area plan is available for public review prior to the meeting and can be found under "recent news" on www.buckeyehills.org/aging-health.
For individuals who wish to submit their comments and aren't able to attend, comments can be submitted to jcollins@buckeyehills.org or mailed to the office address.
According to the release, comments that aren't received by the council by 4:30 p.m. Aug. 6 won't be considered for the hearing comments.
