VIENNA – The annual Parkersburg Elks Lodge 198 membership picnic and flag observance will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Buzzy Dils Park in Vienna.

“The flag ceremony is a time-honored tradition that celebrates the American flag and what it represents,” organizer Leslie Riddle said.

Saturday’s schedule is:

* Noon to 1 p.m.: Introductions and games

* 1-2 p.m.: lunch

2:30-3 p.m.: flag ceremony.

3-4 p.m.: Visit and head home.

“This is an annual member picnic. Members look forward to this every year,” Riddle said. “It’s one of many ways the Elks give back to their members.”

The Elks were the first fraternal order to mandate the flag observance, she said.
