Williamstown City Council incumbents Seufer, Peters win reelection in Tuesday vote

Incumbents Marty Seufer and Pat Peters will continue serving on Williamstown City Council following Tuesday’s election.

Seufer said he was pleased to see the current council team remain in place, while also acknowledging challenger Jeff Meeks’ showing in the race.

“I’m just glad we’ve got the same team working together that we’ve had for the past few years,” Seufer said. “But hats off to (Jeff Meeks). He got a lot of votes, so he obviously got a lot of support, too.”

Seufer said he is looking forward to work on several major city projects, including converting the former elementary school into a community center that would include a Wood County Library branch, C8 remediation work for the city’s water system and upgrades to the ultraviolet system at the sewer plant.

Peters said he was thankful for the support he received from voters.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in this election, and I’m honored and grateful for the trust that the community has in me,” Peters said.

Peters said he is looking forward to continuing work with other council members and the mayor, including addressing paving needs throughout the city. He said officials have reviewed problem areas and submitted a list of streets needing attention, with plans to prioritize the work based on need and traffic patterns.

Starting at $2.99/week.
