PARKERSBURG – After some confusion during a financial update on bond projects last week, the Wood County Board of Education has scheduled a work session tomorrow to gauge where the district is at on those projects.

Board President Justin Raber said there are some projects the district has fully completed, some that have been approved to move forward and some that are ready to move to the next phase.

“The goal is to get a detailed idea of where we are with all of the projects,” Raber said.

He said the confusion from last week stemmed from WEVIS’ management system (West Virginia Education Information System), and how the information is interpreted. WEVIS is the statewide data system used by the West Virginia Department of Education.

“It basically boils down to how an accountant sees things, how we see things and how WEVIS sees things,” Raber said. “(The work session) will let us see what is in the budget versus what we have in cash. … Thankfully we have the interest that has been earned through the bond premiums. This will kind of show us where we’re at.”

The work session is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Bailey Boardroom located at 13th and Plum streets and is open to the public.

The board will hold its regular meeting after the work session where they will hear a proclamation for School Councilor Week, a proposal to change a position within special education from Secretary III to Secretary III/Accountant II and a bond update from Kaleb Lawrence, assistant superintendent of operations.

During the consent agenda, the board will also vote to convert June 3 to an in-person student attendance day and to award Stadium Solutions with Erickson All Sports Facility bleacher bid for $458,419.

The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will also take place in the Bailey Boardroom located at 13th and Plum streets and is open to the public.
