More candidates file paperwork for Wood County primary election

PARKERSBURG — Candidates for county, state and federal races have one last chance on Saturday to file for the May Primary Election.

The Wood County Clerk’s Office at the Wood County Courthouse will be open Saturday, Jan. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon, said Wood County Clerk Joe Gonzales.

People wishing to file for office need to have a State ID with them.

Officials in the Wood County Clerk’s Office said there are a number of filing fees for the different offices. For county commission, it is $455.35 and the candidates must live in District C. The Wood County Republican Executive Committee is $10. The Wood County Democratic Executive Committee is $10. The Congressional Executive Committee is $5. The Senatorial Executive Committee is $5. The Delegate Executive Committee for District 14 is $5. Conservation Supervisor is $10. The Wood County Board of Education is $25.

Candidates for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, the State Senate and the House of Delegates can file with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office in Charleston. Their office is open from 9 a.m. to midnight, an office representative said.

A message left to see if there were any filing fees or other requirements needed at the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office was not immediately returned Friday afternoon.
