PARKERSBURG – A suspect was arrested Sunday by the Wood County Sheriff’s Officer after allegedly stabbing another man.

Jackie L. Barker, 63, no known address, was charged with malicious assault, Sheriff Rick Woodyard said.

According to a post on the Wood County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, deputies were dispatched at approximately 12:23 p.m. Sunday to a residence in the 900 block of Moyer Avenue in reference to an assault in progress.

Deputies arrived around 12:32 p.m. and found a man suffering from an edged weapon wound to his arm, the post said. Deputies applied a tourniquet to control bleeding, and medics from Camden Clark Ambulance Service responded and provided medical treatment.

The suspect, who had fled the scene, was found with the assistance of a Parkersburg Police Department drone behind a business along Marrtown Road, the post said. He was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was taken to a hospital and reported to be in stable condition, the post said.

Barker’s arraignment information was not immediately available Monday afternoon.
