Waterford man sentenced to four years in prison for role in overdose death
MARIETTA — Waterford resident Douglas Brion Sullivan, 61, was sentenced to four years imprisonment in connection with the 2023 overdose death of Danaus Michael Rohrer, 25, of Washington County. Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Kerenyi gave the sentence at 1 p.m. Dec. 12, almost two years after Rohrer’s death.
According to Assistant Prosecutor Joe Derkin, the courtroom was divided on the sentencing with the defense arguing for less time and the prosecution arguing for more. Kerenyi decided on four years.
Derkin said the case wasn’t a jury trial and Sullivan’s time began immediately upon sentencing.
Sullivan was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and one count of aggravated trafficking of drugs, a fourth-degree felony, from December 2023.
Records from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office stated Sullivan was linked as the last person to sell Rohrer illegal narcotics.
The sheriff’s office released his warrant on Feb. 20 and he was arrested the same day. His arrest was over a year after Rohrer had been found dead in his home on Dec. 15, 2023.
Sullivan had been located by deputies in his home on 5852 Johnson Ridge Road in Waterford. After his arrest, he admitted to supplying Rohrer with illegal narcotics containing traces of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, he had been arrested in 2020 and 2021 for illegal possession of drugs.
