Sentencing scheduled in Wetzel-Tyler Board of Health embezzlement case

MIDDLEBOURNE — Marsha Ann Carse, 63, of Paden City, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one felony count of embezzlement in Tyler County Circuit Court.
Carse was indicted during the October term in connection with allegations stemming from her former employment with the Wetzel-Tyler Board of Health.
Prosecutors alleged Carse embezzled $13,701.58 from the Board of Health between 2016 and 2022.
As part of a plea agreement, a felony charge of falsifying accounts was dismissed.
The court ordered a presentence investigation and report. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026, at 10 a.m.
The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office, Public Integrity and Fraud Unit. The case is being prosecuted by Tyler County Prosecuting Attorney D. Luke Furbee.
