Ripley man facing malicious wounding charge after weekend shooting

RIPLEY – A Ripley man was arrested after a gunshot incident Saturday, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on its Facebook page.
Phillip Goodwin, 24, is charged with malicious wounding and was incarcerated in the South Central Regional Jail following a close-range shooting in Ripley, the sheriff’s department said. Bond is $200,000, according to the jail.
The victim, shot in the back with a 45 caliber handgun, was taken to the hospital for treatment, the department said. The bullet exited his chest, the department said.
The incident was investigated by the sheriff’s office and the Ripley Police Department.
