PARKERSBURG — An 18-year-old Parkersburg man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder in relation to a shooting Monday that wounded two people.

Butch Wayne Knight, 18, was arraigned Monday in Wood County Magistrate Court and is in custody at the North Central Regional Jail on a $900,000 bond.

According to a release from Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board, the investigation revealed Knight approached a vehicle parked near the Southwood Park basketball courts. After a brief verbal exchange with its three occupants, Knight allegedly fired multiple rounds, striking two of the men inside. The victims fled the area in the vehicle, reaching a safe location about one block away on Pennsylvania Avenue, the release said.

Responding officers developed Knight as a suspect and got a description of his vehicle, the release said. Within six minutes of the initial 911 call, officers conducted a traffic stop and took Knight into custody, it said.

The individuals who were wounded are Devon Forshey and Bradi Florence, both 18, the release said. They were taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, where they were still being treated Tuesday morning, a hospital spokesman said.

No new information was released Tuesday. Board said additional information will be provided as the investigation proceeds and it becomes available.
