Woman injured, man arrested in Vienna domestic incident

VIENNA - A woman was reportedly run over by a truck during a domestic incident Friday, with the driver arrested the next day, and the woman facing charges as well.
Wood County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched around 7:24 p.m. Friday to a residence on 12th Avenue in Vienna to a reported domestic altercation in progress, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
The caller, Skylar Wesley Bland, 34, of Parkersburg, indicated he believed he had run over the woman's leg with his truck while attempting to leave the residence, the post said.
Upon arrival, deputies found the woman lying on the ground under a blanket, with her head propped up on a pillow and Bland kneeling next to her, the post said. The woman, who was visibly intoxicated according to the post, was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center for treatment, it said.
Bland told deputies he arrived to pick up his children and was concerned for their safety, the post said. As he got in the truck and locked the doors, she grabbed onto the mirror and was banging on the glass. She fell to the ground as he was attempting to leave and was run over by the front driver's side tire, the post said.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court, deputies interviewed the woman at the hospital and she said she and Bland had been arguing over a phone and money and he had not left when she told him to. It said he grabbed the kids and loaded them into the truck, so she followed him outside where he "maneuvered the truck towards her and drove into her, knocking her down."
The complaint said the children, both under the age of 10, were in the truck without proper booster seats or restraints.
The woman suffered multiple fractures and was transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for specialized treatment, the post and complaint said.
Bland was arrested at his residence Saturday on charges of malicious assault and child neglect resulting in injury. He was arraigned Saturday and is being held at the North Central Regional Jail on a $200,000 surety bond.
The post said charges are pending against the woman, who is not being identified at this point because she has not been charged.
Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard said Child Protective Services was notified of the incident, per department policy.
