VIENNA — Vienna City Council held a special meeting Thursday night to conduct business.
Council unanimously approved a general fund revision including $60,000 for pool repairs and the cost of closing the pool for the season, additional city match for the Kayak Launch, and funds for emergency removal of a tree.
During discussion, council members learned there were issues with the new pool due to construction and installation problems, such as faulty welds on some of the tanks which caused leaking, that need to be repaired. It was decided that the city would make and fund the necessary repairs but would also consider pursuing action to recover those costs against those involved in the pool installation work, possibly including legal action.
Council approved a bid recommendation for financing for two F250 Utility Trucks. Out of four bids received, council approved a recommendation for the bid from United Band for three years at 3.65% at a cost of $131,075.64.
Council also spent over an hour on general discussions on financing of Spencer’s Landing, such as how and where to seek funding sources and whether to pursue the project in smaller or larger phases. No votes or actions were taken.
The next regular council meeting will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25.
