BELPRE — Belpre City Council approved two measures during its regular meeting Monday evening.
Council approved the first reading of an ordinance creating a new account in the sewer fund dealing with water reclamation.
Council also approved the first reading of a resolution authorizing the signing of a purchase agreement with Badger Lumber Co.
Additional readings of each measure will be held at future council meetings.
In her report to council, Mayor Susan Abdella said one of the shelters in Civitan Park has been demolished in preparation for the installation of a new playground. The city is working with two vendors to secure pricing to place new shelters so that they are ready for next season.
Abdella said the city’s new snow plow has been received and was in the parking lot for council’s inspection on Monday evening. In reviewing the billing and financials it was determined the funding for the truck will need to be added to council’s budget supplemental.
The city is working with the Belpre Marietta Health Department in reviewing several septic systems within the city and will be working with the homeowners on certifying them or working with them to connect to the city sewer, she said.
Abdella said the city’s new rescue truck to replace the heavy rescue is getting its final equipment and vinyl installation and should be in operation in a couple of weeks.
