PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education chose Jeff Kisner as the new director of secondary education and Valissa Porter as director of special education during a special meeting Tuesday night.

Kisner was principal of Jackson Middle School and Porter was principal of Martin Elementary.

After an hour executive session, the board tabled a vote on a new assistant principal and athletic director at Williamstown Middle High School.

The board also toured the Caperton Center after the meeting. The district took over the Caperton Center from WVU Parkersburg earlier this month.

The board also is taking bids for legal representation of the district and will be accepting those until noon Aug. 22.

“I think what we can do is we find the best way for us to get this out across the state, so that way we can get it into as many hands as possible,” board President Justin Raber said.
