Belpre Council approves two resolutions

BELPRE — Belpre City Council approved two resolutions at its regular meeting Monday evening.

Council approved the third reading of two resolutions, one for the tax budget for 2026 and one for review of the Public Depository legislation.

Council also approved the first reading of an ordinance that would change council’s meeting time from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month. Two additional readings will be held at future council meetings. If approved, the meeting change will go into effect in September.

In her report to council, Mayor Susan Abdella said on June 9 the city’s team met with other members of Wood-Washington-Wirt Interstate Planning Committee to discuss Federal Aid routes and how they are determined and what is best for the City of Belpre.

Abdella said June 18 was the annual meeting for the Regional Income Tax Agency in Columbus. The members will be starting to work on the non-filer list for 2023 and 2024, she said.

Abdella also said a pre-construction meeting for the water main project was held June 19 and the project should kick off soon.

The city received $45,000 from the County 911 revenue for the calls that are coming to the Belpre 911 center. These funds are for 911 services, she said.

The Rules Committee will hold a meeting at 6 p.m July 1 to discuss the city’s substance treatment center moratorium.

Starting at $2.99/week.
