PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Sheriff's Office released the following reports for May 5-7:
May 5
* A traffic stop was conducted after the deputy observed the vehicle to be traveling greater than the posted 55 mph limit (radar verified). Upon contact with the driver the deputy detected the odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle and upon asking the driver he advised the marijuana was in the center console area and his lunch box. The marijuana was located. A citation was issued to Juan Marcos Loredo, 30, of Barclay Street, Belpre, for speeding 72 in a 55 mph zone and possession of marijuana.
* Eric L. Cumpston, 57, of Liberty Street, turned himself in on a warrant for five counts of violation of a domestic violence protective order. He was processed, arraigned and given a $5,000 PR bond.
* A deputy responded to the lobby of Magistrate Court in reference to speaking with a female regarding a DVPO. Upon speaking with her the deputy advised that she had a warrant on file. Lori Fay Smith, aka Fluharty, 49, of Winding Road, was served and arrested on the warrant for shoplifting issued through the Vienna Police Department. She was processed, arraigned and released.
* A deputy responded to the Justice Center in reference to a male subject turning himself in on a warrant. Kevin Wayne Lott, 54, of Third Avenue, was served and arrested on the warrant for domestic battery which was issued through the Wood County Sheriff Department involving an incident on May 3. He was processed, arraigned and given a $1,500 surety bond which was posted and he was released from custody.
* A citation was issued to Everett Edward Williams Jr., 57, of Suszek Road, White Pigeon, Mich., for speeding 83 in a 70 mph zone.
(A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after the deputy observed the motorcycle approaching at a speed greater than the posted 55 mph limit with the motorcycle entering the 45 mph work zone just north of this area. Tylor Brock Thomas, 33, of Burnthouse Road, was arrested on charges of third-offense driving on suspended/revoked and speeding. He was transported to the Holding Center for processing and placed pending his arraignment. He was also warned for no insurance, no registration, no motorcycle endorsement, reckless driving and defective equipment (tire tread).
* A deputy responded to Elizabeth Pike in reference to a vehicle crash involving a deer. The driver stated he had struck the deer on the highway while heading southbound. The deputy observed front end damage on the front passenger side which consisted of a cracked front bumper, busted headlight and a busted grill.
May 6
* A deputy responded to Harris Highway in reference to a vehicle crash involving a deer. The driver stated she was traveling north on W.Va. 68 when she struck the deer. Damage was observed to the undercarriage of the vehicle and it was towed.
* A traffic stop was conducted after the deputy observed the vehicle to have an expired registration and no MVI. Upon contact with the occupants in the vehicle the driver and passenger were asked for name and date of birth. The female gave a name and upon a local check a photo showed the name given was not for the female in the vehicle. The female was asked again her name and admitted her real name. The driver, Wesley Leonard Jacob Anderson, 30, of 24th Avenue, was issued a citation for driving on suspended/revoked and no insurance. The female passenger, Paula Jean Walker, 38, of 16th Street, was arrested on a charge of obstructing. She also had a felony warrant on file for forgery and was a NCIC hit wanted out of Washington County Ohio for a parole violation with full extradition. She was transported to the Holding Center for processing, arraigned by a magistrate and re-confined to await transport to North Central Regional Jail.
May 7
* A citation was issued to Shannon Larowe Obrien, 28, of De Tonty Street, Saint Louis, Mo., for speeding 80 in a 65 mph zone.
* A deputy responded to Laurel Creek Road in reference to the caller stating a tree had fallen and struck their daughter's vehicle. Upon arrival contact was made with the driver and her parents. The deputy observed damage to the driver side of the windshield, a pillar plastic being broken and a small dent in the driver side front quarter.
* A citation was issued to Pamela Jeanine Gum, 71, of Washington Gardens Circle, for third-offense driving on suspended/revoked and no insurance.
* A traffic stop was conducted after the deputy observed the vehicle with a defective windshield. Upon contact with the driver the deputy detected the strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. A search was conducted locating a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance suspected of being marijuana. A citation was issued to Arick Dale Cottrill, 58, of 13th Street, for possession of a controlled substance.
* Deputies responded to Cantwell Ridge Road in reference to a vehicle crash. The driver stated while driving he left the right side of the road slightly and clipped a tree causing the vehicle to roll onto its driver side. He was not injured and removed the vehicle from the road with his tractor. Crash report taken.
* A deputy responded to I-77 160 mm in reference to a vehicle crash involving a deer. The driver stated that while traveling southbound she struck a deer that had entered the roadway. The vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger area, the vehicle was driven from the scene.
* A deputy while on patrol traveling north on I-77 observed two motorcycles approaching at an extremely high rate of speed observing both motorcycles to pass coming upon a tractor trailer where they then squeezed through a small gap in between the driver side rear corner of the trailer to the semi and a passenger side front bumper of a SUV with the gap to be less than a single car length. Due to precarious risk of possible injury or death to the passenger of the motorcycle the deputy elected to not engage in a pursuit with the motorcycles as they were traveling in excess of over 100 mph and advised Central Dispatch to notify Washington County of the motorcycles traveling into their area at a high rate of speed. The deputy did follow from a distance at which time one of the motorcycles had come to a stop on Emerson Avenue. Upon contact with the driver and female passenger the male driver, Dylan Michael Lamp, 24, of Berry Run Road, was arrested on a charge of reckless driving. He was transported to the Holding Center for processing, arraigned where he was given a $1,000 surety bond. He posted the bond and was released.
* Deputies responded to Southern Highway in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway. The vehicle was located backed halfway up a driveway with two occupants and a dog. A citation was issued to Wesley Leonard Jacob Anderson, 30, of Davisville Road, for possession of a controlled substance and a citation was issued to Robert Wayne Batten Jr., 58, of Grandview Street, for possession of a controlled substance.
* Deputies responded to 32nd Street in Vienna in reference to a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival negative contact was made at the residence however a small shed next to a trailer was observed with the deputy making contact with a male and female inside the shed. The male stated he had called 911 accidentally and both stated there was no issue. A local check showed a capias on file for the female. Torrie Brielle Grose, 34, of Worthington Street, was arrested on the capias for possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription. She was transported to the Holding Center for processing, arraigned before a magistrate where she was released on bond and transported back to her residence.
* Carrie Deann Queen, 28, of Meadowview Drive, was arrested on a capias for charges of second-offense driving on suspended/revoked and no insurance and a warrant for charges of driving on suspended/revoked and defective equipment. She was transported to the Holding Center for processing and placed pending arraignment.
