Marietta man killed in accident
A Marietta man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday night in Washington County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Jeremy Heiss, 18, Marietta, was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry south on Blue Knob Road near milepost 2 where he went off the road and struck a tree, the Marietta Post of the patrol said. Heiss was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the patrol said.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected and Heiss was wearing a seatbelt, the patrol said. The accident remains under investigation, the patrol said.
The accident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m., according to the patrol. Responding to the scene in addition to the patrol were Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Marietta EMS, Westfall Towing and the county coroner’s office, the patrol said.
