PARKERSBURG — The name of an accident victim from Sunday has been released by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeffrey Valluzzi, of Parkersburg, died of injuries after a motor vehicle crash in the 10000 block of Emerson Avenue at the junction of Ashby Ridge Road in Parkersburg.

A release from the sheriff’s office said deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries and a possible fatality at approximately 2:41 p.m. Sunday. It said deputies reported that a motorcycle driven Valluzzi was traveling north on Emerson Avenue approaching Ashby Ridge Road in the left lane. It said a second vehicle, a Chevy Equinox driven by a 15-year-old juvenile, was stopped at the intersection of Ashby Ridge Road and Emerson Avenue attempting to turn south onto Emerson Avenue.

The release said the juvenile driver failed to yield and continued across the northbound lanes into the path of Valluzzi. It said Valluzzi attempted to swerve to the left, into the center turn lane, and struck the Equinox’s driver side door. It said Valluzzi came to a rest in the center turn lane and the Equinox came to a rest in the southbound lanes.

The release said the crash is still under investigation at this time and its findings would be turned over to the prosecuting attorney for review and potential charges.

It said other agencies responding to the scene were the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and Camden Clark Ambulance Service.
