West Virginia State Police investigating fatal Ritchie County shooting

PENNSBORO — West Virginia State Police are investigating a possible shooting that occurred late last week that left one person dead and another injured. According to a State Police press release, on Friday at approximately 7:49 p.m., Troopers J.C. Satterfield and C.L. Cronin responded to a shooting complaint at a camper located near Farleys Run Road in the Pennsboro area of Ritchie County. The initial investigation revealed a deceased male victim and an injured and unresponsive female suspect. Both the male and female sustained gunshot injuries. Troopers began administering first aid on the suspect until EMS arrived. The suspect was transported to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center and then on to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown to receive medical treatment. The State Police Crime Scene team assisted with the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
