PARKERSBURG — A Parkersburg man was arrested outside city limits Tuesday after allegedly shooting at a vehicle and apartment on Emerson Avenue.
Alphonso Johnson, 35, was charged with six felony counts of wanton endangerment with a firearm and is being held on a $500,000 bond at the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.
Parkersburg Police responded at approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 2800 block of Emerson Avenue and a report of a person with a firearm, according to a release from Chief Matthew Board.
Officers determined a suspect, later identified as Johnson, discharged an unknown number of rounds at a vehicle and fired multiple shots at the apartment of the vehicle’s owner, the release said. He had fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.
Investigation revealed he might be en route to a location outside city limits, information that was forwarded to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, the release said.
Less than half an hour after the initial call, deputies arrested Johnson in the area of Marrtown Road. A 9-millimeter handgun was found in his vehicle at the time, the release said.
Six bullet impact points were found at the original scene on Emerson Avenue, the release said.
Board said it was immediately clear what circumstances led to the incident.
The Parkersburg Police Department thanked the sheriff’s office for its assistance.
