Meigs County drug trafficking investigation leads to two arrests

POMEROY — On Monday the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit concluded a six-month investigation into a major drug trafficking operation that led to the execution of a search warrant.
The investigation also led to a planned interdiction traffic stop on US-33 in Meigs County.
Detectives confirmed that Sean Braley was travelling on US-33 to Columbus to purchase large amounts of methamphetamine from his supplier.
Braley was driving a 2005 Ford Mustang and returned to Meigs County with a large quantity of drugs.
Deputies with the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on the Ford Mustang being driven by Braley on US-33.
Detectives obtained probable cause to search the vehicle and located a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine with weight of about one pound.
An additional bag of suspected methamphetamine was located along with other drugs inside of the vehicle.
Braley was arrested for drug trafficking and possession of drugs, both first-degree felonies. Braley is expected to face additional drug-related charges and is currently being housed at the Gallia County Jail.
Through the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence located in the Village of Pomeroy at 25 Cave St.
During the search, deputies located suspected methamphetamine, large amounts of illegal pills, digital scales and firearms.
Kristine Shane who was another target of the investigation was arrested after the execution of the search warrant by Meigs County Sheriff’s Office for permitting drug abuse and possession of drugs, both fifth-degree felonies.
Shane also faces additional drug-related charges and is being held at the Monroe County Jail.
