VIENNA — Federal agents were present at a local nail salon in the Grand Central Mall earlier this week, prompting public speculation and questions.
According to Vienna Police Chief Carl Powell, the department was contacted by federal authorities, specifically the IRS, to provide a marked unit in the area during their investigation.
“The request was made in case they encountered any issues with the public,” said Powell. “Most federal agents don’t wear uniforms, so it can sometimes cause confusion.”
While details remain limited, Powell confirmed the operation was led by the IRS. No further information regarding the nature of the investigation or the salon’s involvement was disclosed.
“At this time, we don’t have much beyond that,” Powell added.
