WILLIAMSTOWN – One man is dead following a shooting today near Williamstown.

Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard confirmed the death.

The sheriff’s office posted on its Facebook page around 12:22 p.m. that deputies were on the scene of a shooting involving two victims on Maple Drive in the Mullenix Subdivision near Williamstown.

“The scene is now secure at this time and it is believed that no present danger (exists) for (residents) in the area,” the post stated.

Woodyard also said they have no reason to believe a third person was involved in the incident.
