Wood County Sheriff releases names of crash victims

MINERAL WELLS — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two people killed early Monday in a UTV accident.
The department reported Wednesday that Joseph Lowers II, 23, and Chloe Barre, 22, both of Parkersburg, were the two who were killed in the accident, according to a post on the Wood County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.
At about 2:36 a.m. Monday, deputies were dispatched to the 1500 block of Sams Creek Road near Paddle Run regarding a UTV crash. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a Red/White Polaris RZR had been involved in a crash. Three people had been involved in the incident with two deceased on the scene, including the driver, now identified as Lowers, and one passenger, now identified as Barre.
The other passenger, Edward McComas III, was involved in the crash but was able to go to a nearby residence to summon help, the post said.
It is believed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash which is still under investigation by the department, according to the original Facebook post made on Monday. The accident is still under investigation, according to Wednesday’s post.
