Wood County authorities report fatal UTV accident

MINERAL WELLS -- The Wood County Sheriff's Office is investigating a UTV accident which occurred early Monday morning and took two lives.
According to a post on the department's Facebook page, at about 2:36 a.m. Monday, deputies were dispatched to the 1500 block of Sams Creek Road near Paddle Run regarding a UTV crash.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered a Red/White Polaris RZR had been involved in a crash. Three people had been involved in the incident with two persons. a male driver and a female passenger, deceased on the scene.
A third passenger, Edward Mccomas III, was involved in the crash but was able to go to a nearby residence to summon help, the post said.
It is believed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash which is still under investigation by the department, the post said.
The driver and female passenger names will be released pending notification of family members.
Other responding agencies included the Mineral Wells and Eastwood volunteer fire departments and the Camden Clark Ambulance Service, the post said.
