WILLIAMSTOWN — A plane bounced upon landing at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport on Wednesday and went off into the grass, but the pilot was uninjured, the airport manager said.

Because the plane left the runway, the incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration, airport Manager Ben Auville said.

The incident happened around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. The plane left the runway and went into the grassy area that is still considered part of the runway safety area, Auville said.

When the aircraft, identified in an FAA report as a Lancair 320-360, got into the dirt, the landing gear was damaged. That, coupled with the approaching darkness and cold, rainy weather led to the plane remaining in the grass until Thursday morning, Auville said.

The incident happened a little over a week after a plane with stuck landing gear landed safely at the airport on Jan. 28. No injuries were reported in that situation either.

Starting at $2.99/week.
