VIENNA — A man was arrested on charges related to a reported domestic violence incident Sunday following a fight in which another man was stabbed.

Vienna Police Chief Carl Powell said officers were dispatched after noon on Sunday to a residence on 20th Street in Vienna.

“We got dispatched for a domestic and it ended up being two males fighting,” he said.

The second man apparently was contacted by a woman at the residence, Powell said. He began to fight with the other man, who was allegedly involved in the domestic incident with the woman, and attempted to use a shovel as a weapon, the chief said.

The man who lives at the residence drew a knife and stabbed the man with the shovel, who was taken to a hospital, Powell said.

Neither individual’s name has been released as the incident remains under investigation. The charge on which the resident was arrested was related to the domestic incident that preceded the fight, Powell said.
