Man facing manslaughter charge in fatal overdose

Douglas Brion Sullivan

MARIETTA — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Waterford man in connection with the 2023 overdose death of a Washington County man.

The WCSO announced Friday in a press release that a warrant for the arrest of Douglas Brion Sullivan, 61, of Waterford, was released Thursday.

Sullivan’s arrest was based on the charge of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and he was taken to the Washington County Jail on Thursday, the release said.

In Waterford Township, Danaus Michael Rohrer, 25, was found dead in his home from a fentanyl and methamphetamine overdose on Dec. 15, 2023. Once the investigation began, more than a year would go by before the Sheriff’s Office linked the overdose to Sullivan.

On Thursday, deputies located Sullivan in his home on 5852 Johnson Ridge Road in Waterford where he cooperated with officers and eventually admitted to supplying Rohrer with the illegal narcotics prior to his death in 2023.

Sullivan was arrested in 2020 and 2021 for illegal possession of drugs.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan included in his statement that he knew what he did was wrong.

Sullivan is expected to remained in the Washington County Jail until his hearing next week. His bond was set at $150,000 plus personal recognizance.
