PARKERSBURG — A Vienna man was recently arraigned over alleged online attempts to solicit someone to commit murders.
Christopher Patrick Cunningham, 37, last known address 1308 12th St., Vienna, was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court on three counts of solicitation to commit murder.
According to the criminal complaint by Patrolman J.L. Fox of the Vienna Police Department, on Aug. 6, police spoke with a female complainant, in reference to threatening and disturbing conversations she allegedly found on Cunningham’s devices.
An investigation was begun when it was established Cunningham utilized his own personal Facebook Messenger to attempt to solicit others to commit murder.
“The Defendant, would request others to strangle/kill someone and bring the body to him to have sexual intercourse with,” the criminal complaint said.
Search warrants were obtained for the devices the woman had located.
“This officer observed through the Defendant’s electronic devices and confirmed that the Defendant did request the killing of others to include but not limited to children,” Fox wrote in the criminal complaint. “This officer observed conversations stating that he would send money utilizing CashApp for the killing to take place.”
Fox wrote he observed numerous transactions that had taken place that correspond with the conversations. The conversations began approximately May 2022 and lasted until August 2024.
Fox spoke with one of the people, a woman, who communicated with Cunningham.
“The Defendant requested (her) to kill her spouse and bring him the body,” according to the criminal complaint, adding Cunningham also allegedly requested the killing of the woman’s daughter and to bring him the body so he could have sexual intercourse with it.
Fox wrote that he saw conversations where the woman was consistently asked “have you done it yet” and “which one are you going to kill.” The defendant also asked, “you load her up already” during a conversation.
Another conversation Fox observed between Cunningham and another female asked her to “show me a pic of her dead” and stated he “ain’t keeping a pic of a dead girl.”
Fox observed Cunningham made multiple payments via CashApp showing the intent of these requests to be legitimate, he wrote in the complaint.
Cunningham was being held on $900,000 cash bond at the North Central Regional Jail.
