Accident halts traffic on I-77 near Williamstown exit

WILLIAMSTOWN – Traffic is closed on both the north and south bound lanes of Interstate 77 due to an accident.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department posted on its Facebook page about 3:15 p.m. today that deputies and other first responders were currently at the 182-mile marker north bound on I-77 near the Williamstown exit regarding an overturned semi-truck that reportedly struck a passenger vehicle before overturning.
At the time of the report, all parties have been removed from the vehicles but their condition is unknown at this time.
The semi is reported to be carrying a cargo of bagged lyme or concrete. Delays should be expected.
Units on scene at this time are Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department, Waverly Volunteer Fire Department, Wood County Emergency Management, Williamstown Police, West Virginia State Police, West Virginia Department of Highways and St. Joseph Ambulance Service.
