Authorities arrest Parkersburg man on attempted murder charge

PARKERSBURG — A Parkersburg man was arraigned on a charge of attempted murder following an altercation on Dec. 13.

Keith Allen Stepchuck, 38, 1232 Juliana St., Parkersburg, was arraigned last Wednesday on a charge of attempted murder and held on no bond, according to records released by Wood County Magistrate Court on Monday..

According to the criminal complaint filed in magistrate court and written by Detective A.C. Williams of the Parkersburg Police Department, the victim, Zachary Lee Huck was driving his vehicle in the 1100 block of Ann Street in Parkersburg on Dec. 13 with Stepchuck in the front passenger seat.

The two men got into an argument and Stepchuck began striking Huck in the head/face area causing him to stop the vehicle abruptly.

“The victim stated he then observed and felt himself bleeding heavily from his neck,” the criminal complaint stated.

Both men exited the vehicle which was captured by security cameras nearby. The camera also captured Huck holding his the right side of his neck, saying some words and walking towards the sidewalk.

Stepchuck was recorded to appear to have an object in his left hand and switching it to his right hand and saying “You wanna do this?”

Huck told him to calm down while also indicating he was hurt.

Stepchuck began walking north on Ann Street. Huck got back in his vehicle and drove himself to Camden Clark Medical Center.

“The victim was immediately taken to emergency surgery after arriving at (Camden Clark),” Williams wrote. “There was an approximate six-inch laceration to the right side of his neck.”

Stepchuck was seen on security cameras on 12th St, between Ann Street and Juliana Street walking east, wearing cloths that were described by Huck.

Stepchuck, during his mirandized statement, admitted to being with the victim earlier that day and got into an argument, Williams wrote.

Stepchuck is being held at the North Central Regional Jail.
