1 dead after 4-vehicle crash in Wood County

PARKERSBURG -- An Ohio man is dead after an early morning accident Tuesday.
A release from the Wood County Sheriff's Office said first responders were dispatched to 5106 Emerson Ave. for a reported four-vehicle accident. The Wood County 911 Center said they received multiple calls about the accident at 7:12 a.m. Camden Clark Medical Center and St. Josephs Ambulance services were also dispatched, as well as the Waverly and Parkersburg Fire Departments.
The release from the sheriff's office said through an investigation it was determined that Seth Young, from Heath, Ohio, was operating a 2021 Chevrolet sedan and traveling north on Emerson Avenue when he crossed the centerline striking a 2010 Toyota sedan driven by Christina Houser of St. Marys. The release said Young continued in the southbound lanes before striking a 2020 Toyota SUV driven by Anita Cooper of Sandyville.
Young's vehicle then struck a 2022 Toyota sedan driven by McKenzee Buchanan of Spencer, the release said.
Sheriff Rick Woodyard said Young's vehicle caught fire and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Buchanan had severe injuries and was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, the release said. Cooper and Houser did not have apparent injuries.
Woodyard said the accident is still under investigation.
