Single-vehicle crash impacts traffic on Interstate 77
WILLIAMSTOWN — Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard said a one vehicle accident on Interstate 77 shut down traffic for an hour Wednesday morning.
He said at 6:25 a.m. deputies and first responders were dispatched to the 185 mile marker of I-77 in reference to a semi truck accident.
Witnesses calling 911 advised the semi had gone through the median and came to rest facing north in the southbound lane. Woodyard said the driver suffered minor injuries but the southbound lane was shut down for a period of time and authorities with the West Virginia Division of Highways were notified regarding some fluids leaking from the engine area of the semi.
He said the interstate was cleared again for normal traffic at 7:41 a.m. Wednesday.
At the time of the report, he said the cause of the incident is believed to be driver initiated and that there were no other vehicles or persons involved.
