PARKERSBURG -- Charges have been filed against a Parkersburg High School student after an incident at the school last week.

Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board said the school's resource officer responded to a medical situation and one student had to be restrained. He said the student was being uncooperative during the medical emergency and the resource officer and staff recommended the student be taken into custody.

Board said charges have been filed against that student but no further information is being released because the student is a juvenile and the case has yet to be adjudicated.

Wood County Schools Superintendent Christie Willis said the district takes the safety and privacy of students seriously. She said the district does not comment on investigations involving students.
