Vienna Police investigate threat at Jackson Middle, none found

VIENNA – The Vienna Police Department reported that shortly after noon today, the department was advised of an anonymous tip involving Jackson Middle School.
Jackson Middle School was immediately locked down for the students' safety as officers were responding to the scene, the VPD reported in a press release.
Sgt. A.N. Harris, Jackson Middle School Resource Officer, was already on scene when the initial alert came out. Having Harris at the school played a valuable role in the response to the tip and follow-up investigation, the release said.
Harris was able to advise responding officers that there was not an active threat. The lockdown was lifted shortly after it was determined to be safe to do so.
The VPD and the Wood County Board of Education worked diligently to make sure there was no credible threat to Jackson Middle School. Once that was determined, Vienna Police and the school board released that information to the public, the release said.
The incident remains under investigation by both parties, the release said.
