Roane County man facing charges over drugs, weapon

SPENCER — A Roane County resident was arrested on a drug charge Friday by West Virginia State Police.
According to a WVSP press release, on Friday at approximately 9 a.m., Cpl Z. W. Hartley and Tpr. N. T. Warden served an arrest warrant on the suspect, identified as Brandy McKinney, 39, of Spencer.
While at the residence, troopers observed drug paraphernalia. The release said the troopers obtained a search warrant for the residence. Upon serving the search warrant, troopers discovered a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and a firearm. Further investigation revealed McKinney to be a convicted felon, the release said.
Troopers placed McKinney under arrest on the previously obtained arrest warrant and additionally charged her with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and prohibited person in possession of a firearm. The status of this investigation remains active and ongoing, the release said.
