Two-vehicle crash in Marietta claims life of Michigan man

MARIETTA -- A two-vehicle crash in Marietta led to the death of a Michigan man this week.
Lonnie R. Holton, 77, of Belmont, Mich., was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle south on Ohio 7 Wednesday, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He attempted to turn left into the Go Mart Parking lot but failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2004 GMC Envoy driven by Robert D. Delaney, 68, of Marietta, the release said.
Both vehicles traveled off the right side of the road and struck a pole, the release said.
Delaney was transported by Marietta EMS to Marietta Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and Holton was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
The release said alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash and Holton was wearing a helmet and Delaney was wearing a seat belt.
According to the release, the crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway patrol, the OSHP Crash Reconstruction Unit, Marietta Police Department, Marietta Fire Department, Marietta EMS and Secure Towing responded to the scene.
