Vienna mayoral candidate raises concerns about Jackson Park pool efforts

VIENNA -- Vienna mayoral candidate Chad Emrick estimated the city of Vienna has spent $8.5 million to date on the Jackson Park pool at his town hall Thursday evening.
Emrick said he submitted a Freedom of Information Act request regarding invoices and service orders for the pool and had all of those documents available for citizens to look at during the event.
On the cost breakdown of the slideshow, Emrick listed $420,000 in pool-related costs prior to the remodel, $6.8 million bid to United Company Inc., $357,000 in change orders, $23,000 in concession stand equipment, and $870,000 in interest owed on the $3 million loan from Huntington Bank.
"That is saying that nothing else that's changed. Nothing else gets changed. Everything that they're doing goes according to plan, and there aren't any other surprises," he said.
Emrick said he was concerned about the slide not being installed.
"What concerns me is that we have not yet installed the slides that are being shipped from overseas and are supposed to arrive, and they were projected to be here the first part of June," he said.
Emrick also said he was concerned a cost of the pool's long term maintenance has not been determined
"We don't have the full picture of how much the pool is going to cost to manage," he said.
