Charleston man dies in Roane County UTV crash

WALTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man died early Saturday morning in a UTV accident in Roane County.
According to a release from the West Virginia State Police, a trooper was dispatched to the crash on Walker Ridge Road near Walton around 1:26 a.m. Saturday.
The driver, 27-year-old Jacob Beckner of Charleston, was determined to be deceased from injuries he sustained in the crash, the release said. A 17-year-old passenger was extricated from the UTV, initially transported by Roane County EMS and then flown to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital.
The white Polaris UTV was traveling east on Walker Ridge Road and exited the south roadway edge, flipped sideways and struck a tree with the top of its roof and roll cage.
The incident remains under investigation.
