Bicyclist suffers serious injuries in Athens County hit and run

ATHENS — A bicyclist was hit and seriously injured late Saturday night or early Sunday morning by a driver who drove away in Athens County, the Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Sunday said.
The bicyclist, who has yet to be identified, was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington with life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.
The accident occurred on Radford Road near Edria Lane in Athens County, the patrol said. The bicyclist was traveling south on Radford Road on a Cannondale bicycle when he was struck in the rear by a southbound vehicle that left the scene, the patrol said.
The crash is believed to have occurred between 11 p.m. Saturday and the early morning hours of Sunday, the patrol said.
Troopers also believe the vehicle that left the scene is a 2023 or 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee,
Overland Edition, the patrol said. The vehicle would have damage to the front and right front fender, the patrol said.
The patrol is asking anyone with any information about the crash or suspect vehicle to contact the Athens Post at (740) 593-6611. Radford Road is off U.S. 50 about 4 miles west of Athens.
