RIPLEY -- Two people were arrested by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office in connection with a fatal overdose investigation from last week in Ravenswood.

Cody Lee Miller, 30, and Carlina Pennington, 34, both of Elkview, have been incarcerated on felony charges of drug delivery resulting in death and conspiracy to deliver fentanyl. Both bonds have been set at $150,000.

The investigation was mutually worked by detectives of the Jackson County Bureau of Investigations.

According to criminal complaints from the Jackson County Magistrate Court for Miller and Pennington, the case began March 17 when officials responded to a Douglas Avenue residence in Ravenswood regarding a drug overdose with CPR in progress.

The complaint identified the overdose victim as Megan Stier and reported she was transported to Jackson General Hospital where she was pronounced dead March 19.

During the investigation, information was obtained that led investigators to Pennington. In an interview with investigators, she allegedly said she traveled to Love Truck Stop in Fairplain to deliver fentanyl to Stier.

Based on the results of a search of Pennington's cellphone and review of security video at the truck stop, investigators also determined that Miller, her fiance, was present with her at the time of the transaction, according to the complaint.
